The success of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games rests on the support from volunteers. As well as the volunteers involved directly in the London event there will be many projects and opportunities to get involved with during the run-up and after 2012. We have included below a number of links to help you find details of the national and local volunteering opportunites available.
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) is offering more than 2,000 16-18 year olds the opportunity to be Young Games Makers, volunteering in a number of different roles during the 2012 Games. Applications, for teams of young people, are open until midnight on October 31 2011. Apply now.
The 25th Hour is a volunteering project backed by V (the National Young Volunteers' Service) and LOCOG. The project seeks to support and encourage London 2012-inspired volunteering for people to pledge their 25th Hour doing something worthwhile. As part of the 2012 legacy movement the 25th Hour campaign will reward volunteers with an invite to the dress rehearsal of the London 2012 Open Ceremony.
Volunteering England bring other 2012 Games partners together who are also using Do-it in order to provide one place for all community related 2012 Games volunteering opportunities to be recruited and found. They provide simple suggestions to help local, regional and national organisations to create Games inspired volunteering opportunities.
If you represent an organisation and have an event or project that you would like to be associated with Volunteering England please see the relevant flyer downloadable below:
The Do-It website provides information on the national and regional volunteering opportunities and seeks to enable people to find fulfilling 2012-inspired volunteering opportunities.
