Dads get free entry to Savill Garden on Father's Day 19 June

6th June 2011

Dads enjoy free entry to The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park, to celebrate Father’s Day on Sunday 19 June (usual car park charges apply). There will also be a special Sunday lunch BBQ from 12 noon to 4pm. After lunch, treat your Dad to The Royal Landscape Explorer horse and carriage ride from The Savill Building through The Royal Landscape.

Within The Savill Garden, The Summer Gardens will be coming into their prime. Visitors will experience the intensity of perfume and colour of 2,500 roses in the contemporary Rose Garden which was opened last year and the senses will continue to be stimulated at every turn with different scents, colour combinations and views.

The walkway in the centre of the design appears to ‘float’ above the Rose Garden, giving stunning views within the Garden and further out into other areas of The Savill Garden. As the deep aroma of the roses naturally rises, visitors will also be able to enjoy the perfume at its best from the walkway.

Come and see the recently planted ‘Catherine Rose’ and ‘Royal William’ rose which can be found in the royal themed rose beds adjacent to The Rose Garden. The addition of these roses brings the rose count across the Garden to more than 3,500.

The Hidden Gardens present a rich variety of flowers, foliage, form and texture, with a wide selection of lilies, irises and primulas. The Dry Garden brings drifts of vibrant free flowering plants and pastel shades in the Golden Jubilee Garden will captivate visitors from late June.

The Royal Landscape Explorer carriage rides will run from 11am to 4pm, on Sunday 19 June starting at The Savill Building. It is a fantastic way to enjoy The Royal Landscape from a new perspective and the carriage ride lasts for 25 minutes. The trip costs £45 per carriage (the carriage seats 4 adults and 2 children comfortably) or £7.50 per seat. Toddlers on laps are free of charge for the 25 minute trip (maximum 2 per carriage).
