Summer Events at The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park

Throughout the summer, events are being held in the beautiful Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park, ranging from open air theatre to a sculpture exhibition; and for the first time the Garden will be open in the evenings during the Games so that visitors will be able to go to the Games and do other activities during the day, and then relax in the Garden and enjoy the heady evening scent of summer flowers and a tranquil evening.
The Celebration of the Rose, 25 June to 1 July, celebrates the stunning contemporary Rose Garden which will be peaking through June, July and August, with roses selected for their scent and repeat flowering. Enjoy a Diamond Jubilee Tea which is a full afternoon tea served on fine bone china in a tea tent on The Lawns in The Savill Garden. Afternoon tea will be served at 3.15pm or 4.30pm and the cost is £16.00 per person. Pre-booking is advised by calling 01784 485402 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Throughout The Celebration of the Rose, there will also be tours of the Rose Garden. On 30 June, there will be a special rose shop where visitors can buy roses featured in the Rose Garden displays, with experts from Henry Street Roses on hand to answer rose-related questions. On 30 June and 1 July, there will be a triumphant musical finale as a silver band performs an arrangement of classics in The Savill Garden.
The Sword in The Stone will be performed by the Cambridge Touring Theatre at 7pm on 14 and 15 July. Children and their parents will be transported into Arthurian legend. Before the theatre, at 5pm, there will be a children’s workshop for 5-11 year olds, when children can meet the stars of the show and have their own chance to act, dance and sing. The children’s workshop will take place in a marquee on The Lawns and the cost is £3 per child (in addition to the cost of the show). Open air theatre ticket holders will also enjoy the special privilege of being able to bring a picnic into certain areas of The Savill Garden from 5.30pm. Tickets for the performance: Family ticket (2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 3 children) £37.50; adults £13; child (up to 16) / seniors / students £9. The Pantaloons will be bringing their fun and interactive style to Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest at The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park, on 9 and 10 August, with the performance starting at 7.30pm. The Pantaloons are a vibrant theatre group who draw from a wide variety of popular theatre traditions. Open air theatre ticket holders will also enjoy the special privilege of being able to bring a picnic into certain areas of The Savill Garden from 5.30pm. Tickets for the performance: adults £14; children (under 16) £8; concessions £12 (booking required). Tickets are available from The Savill Building or by calling 01784 435 544.
Over the period of the summer Games, 27 July to 12 August, The Savill Garden will, for the first time, be offering a special treat for visitors by extending its opening hours to 8.30pm. Visitors will be able to go to the Games and do other activities during the day, and then come to The Savill Garden to relax and enjoy the hazy summer evenings when the scent from the Rose Garden, the herbaceous borders, and Golden Jubilee Garden, is at its heady best. A light supper menu will also be available to enjoy at the Savill Building restaurant. (Normal Garden entry fees apply).
There will be a Sculpture Exhibition from 1 August to 30 September, and visitors will be able to explore and enjoy a display of imaginative and innovative sculpture, forming a trail which leads around The Savill Garden. There is something to appeal to all ages, from the abstract to the figurative and everything in between. All pieces will be available to purchase. (Garden admission charges apply).
