It is run by the Heritage Development Officer, supported by the Friends of Windsor and Royal Borough Museum, which includes a team of volunteers.

Museum Displays at Windsor Library.

The Story of Windsor:
This display in the corridor traces the development of Windsor town over the past 1,000 years from the original Saxon settlement of Windlesora in what is now Old Windsor to the present site circling Windsor Castle.

Stone Age to Saxons Display (February to September 2008):
This display draws on the museum's large collection of objects found in the area, from a huge mammoth tusk of the earliest period to a delicately worked bone comb from Saxon times. The display features Stone Age flint tools, Bronze Age finds from the River Thames, Roman artefacts from Cox Green and Saxon finds from Wraysbury. Remember to look at the file of extra information on the shelves near the cases and to put your comments in the Visitors Book.

The Museum Store in west Windsor is closed to the public, but is open to visitors by prior appointment only on Wednesday mornings, when local historians are available to help with enquiries and research.

For all enquiries or to make an appointment to visit the store phone +44 (0)1628 796846 or email museum.collections@rbwm.gov.uk
