The Savill Garden: Vintage Carousel Rides

About

This festive season look no further than Windsor Great Park for outdoor family fun.

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, our minds turn to festive family activities. Come together this December for a feast of fun, a taste of seasonal dining as well as shopping from artisan suppliers from around the UK.

Here is a taste of what you can enjoy:

Winter in The Savill Garden

Enjoy the variety of beautiful and fragrant plants that thrive in the winter months. Discover the flaming dogwoods and willows in the Winter Garden as well as the golden grasses from New Zealand.

The Queen Elizabeth II Temperate House is the perfect place to stop mid-way to enjoy the sight of festive plants from across the world, alongside our National Collection of Mahonia.

New opening times: The Savill Building and the Garden is open from 9am to 5pm daily. (Last admission to the Garden is 3.30pm).

Christmas trees

On sale from 3 December through to 20 December, Christmas trees, wreaths, fresh boughs of holly and mistletoe as well as a wide selection of decorations and Christmas gifts are available from the Windsor Great Park Christmas shop.

With helpful advice from the on-hand foresters who grow the trees, shoppers can choose from traditional Norway Spruce or Nordmann Fir trees, ranging in height from 3 feet to 16 feet. All trees on sale are freshly cut and certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC©) with the majority grown on the Windsor Estate.

Shopping at The Savill Building

Let us get ready for Christmas together … our collection of wonderful gifts awaits you this festive season featuring unique products from British artisan makers, which, together with delicious food; children’s toys; beautiful homeware; jewellery and heaps of other exciting goodies will fill those stockings nicely.

PLUS …visit on 04, 11 and 18 December for extended shopping hours until 9pm.

We will also be hosting suppliers so that you can sample local meat from the Windsor Estate, the NEW Windsor Great Park Gin and a visit from the team at Greyfriars.

Festive dining

As well as our normal festive themed menu, as part of our extended shopping hour evenings, we will be serving Christmas dinner in The Savill Garden Kitchen. Come with family, friends or work colleagues to enjoy a menu for adults and children. Two sittings will be available at 5.30pm and 7.30pm and must be booked in advance.

Afternoon Tea

We have put together a Christmas themed menu for Afternoon Tea, which you can take in the Gallery Café. Available Thursday – Sunday, these are available in two sittings, 12pm and 3pm and must be booked in advance.

The Twelve Days of Christmas Winter Trail

Starting at The Savill Building, follow the trail in Windsor Great Park to spot the difference between the Gingerbread men as well as fill in the gaps for the Christmas carol, Twelve Days of Christmas.

We will have you all singing this festive favourite by the end of the trail.

The hour long trail which is buggy and wheelchair friendly is a great way to get out and burn off some energy as well as earn a treat at the end.*

Don’t forget your outdoor footwear!
