Autumn Event Cinema at Norden Farm

Catch up on London’s biggest shows in Maidenhead

In case you missed some of the most spectacular performances of the year, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts presents a thrilling season of Event Cinema. Tickets for all Event Cinema screenings are £15.

The unmissable theatre phenomenon Yerma sold out at the Young Vic. Billie Piper reprises her Evening Standard Best Actress award-winning role in Simon Stone’s radical production of Lorca’s achingly powerful masterpiece. A young woman is driven to the unthinkable by her desperate desire to have a child. NT Live: Yerma can be seen in Maidenhead on Thursday 14 September at 7.30pm and Sunday 17 September at 2pm.

Forty five years after Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour filmed Live at Pompeii in the Roman Amphitheatre, he returned for two spectacular shows. Expect an audio-visual spectacle featuring lasers, pyrotechnics and David’s legendary music. This concert performance film features highlights from both shows. It includes songs from throughout David's career, as well as many Pink Floyd classics. David Gilmour Live at Pompeii is screened at Norden Farm on Saturday 16 September at 8pm.

Raphael – Lord of the Arts is the first film adaptation of the life and work of Raphael Sanzio, one of the most famous artists in the world. The film retraces the most significant moments of Raphael’s life and explores more than thirty works of art. It is set in 20 locations, including major exclusives – the Vatican Logge and Cardinal Bibbiena’s apartment in the Apostolic Palace. See it on Wednesday 20 September at 2pm.

The Royal Opera House presents four of the most successful shows hand-picked from this year’s season. Mozart’s glorious opera The Magic Flute is brought enchantingly to life in David McVicar’s production. This classic production embraces both the seriousness and comedy of Mozart’s work. Be transported to a fantastical world of dancing animals, flying machines and dazzlingly starry skies. ROH Live: The Magic Flute is screened live from the Royal Opera House on Wednesday 20 September at 7.15pm with an encore at 2pm on Wednesday 27 September.

Acclaimed director Richard Jones directs a new production of Puccini’s captivating opera La bohème. When Rodolfo, a penniless poet, meets Mimì, a seamstress, they fall instantly in love. But their happiness is threatened when Rodolfo learns that Mimì is gravely ill. ROH Live: La bohème is screened on Sunday 8 October at 7pm and Friday 13 October at 2pm.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland showcases the Royal Ballet at its best. The performance brings together world-class dance with enchanting family entertainment. An encore screening featuring a cast of extraordinary and instantly recognisable characters - from the highly strung Queen of Hearts to a playing card corps de ballet, a sinuous caterpillar and a tap-dancing Mad Hatter. ROH Live: Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is shown at Norden Farm on Sunday 29 October at 2pm.

The Nutcracker is the perfect Christmas entertainment with it’s recognisable characters and musical scores. It features dancing snowflakes and enchanting stage magic. ROH Live: The Nutcracker is screened live on Tuesday 5 December at 7.15pm, with an encore screening on Thursday 4 January at 2pm.

To round the autumn off, we have an encore screening from Stratford-upon-Avon. Director Angus Jackson completes the Royal Shakespeare Company’s collection of Shakespeare’s Roman plays with a visceral production of Coriolanus. A full-throttle war play, Coriolanus transports us back to the emergence of the republic of Rome. RSC Live: Coriolanus is on Wednesday 18 October at 2pm.

Join us to catch up on a handful of the season’s top picks without the need to travel.
