This UK based artist’s music has been described as classic singer-songwriter style. Jinder is live at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 1 June at 8pm. Tickets are £16.
Jinder occasionally forays into punchy alternative pop on recent releases. It’s a genre he fills as easily as he fits into folk. Jinder’s work is often compared to that of John Martyn, Jackie Leven, Townes Van Zandt and Stephen Stills. His influences are as diverse as early Echo and the Bunnymen, The Replacements and The Blue Nile.
Jinder’s songs have appeared in hit movies and have been recorded by many other artists. They have featured on a number one album and in a West End musical. In 2019 he enjoyed five entries in the UK download charts. His top thirty single “Keep Me in Your Heart’ appeared in the smash hit movie Fisherman’s Friends and reached number one in the download charts in eight countries. Jinder is now set to release his thirteenth album in 2023.
His vocal style is warm and sweet whilst his lyrics weave a rapturous tale. With a career spanning over 20 years he has many a tale to tell.
Jinder is supported by Peter James Millson. He is inspired by a strange combination of mid-80s literate pop, wiry guitar bands and the songs of Jimmy Webb. Peter James Millson has written and recorded six albums to date, each of them filled with what he thought at the time were the best songs anyone had ever written. That soon wore off, but the music kept coming, and the life he’s living in the everyday continues to supply material.
Signed to Reveal Records at the start of 2021, his live gigs will be another chance for him to swap his love of glittering electric guitar for his love of odd chords played on acoustic and to sing his songs with a sweet little voice.
Experience the music of these singer-songwriters in the intimate setting of Norden Farm.
