The immensely creative jazz musician Julian Siegel forms a duo with trumpeter Paul Jordanous. They perform in the intimate Studio cabaret club at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 22 November at 8pm. Tickets are £15 (£13 conc), £5 under 16s.

Julian Siegel is an in-demand saxophonist on the British and European Jazz scene. He is also a composer and arranger. Julian has worked with many top figures in music including Bill Frisell, Andrew Hill, Michael Gibbs, Django Bates, John Taylor, Kenny Wheeler and the NDR Big band. The musician has toured and recorded with Greg Cohen and Joey Baron. He has played at many of the major festivals in the United States of America, Canada, Germany, Finland, the UK, and Ireland. Julian also plays at Ronnie Scott’s.

In 2007 Julian was awarded the BBC Jazz Award for Best Instrumentalist. In 2011 his band the Julian Siegel Quartet won the Jazz Award in the London Festival Fringe Awards for Art and Performance. The saxophonist has released many albums with different bands. His album Vista by the Julian Siegel Jazz Quartet was named The Guardian’s Jazz Album of the Month in February last year.

Paul Jordanous is a trumpeter, pianist, composer, and arranger. He has been a regular on the Jazz, Funk and Soul scenes for the last 13 years. The musician has recorded on over 60 releases, including his critically acclaimed debut album And Now I Know with the Paul Jordanous Ensemble. Over the years, Paul’s bands have included top British jazz musicians and he has toured in over 40 countries around the world.

They are joined by the superb Pendulum Rhythm Section, headed by Clark Tracey (drums) with Alex Hutton (piano) and Andy Cleyndert (bass).

Expect an evening of swinging saxes and tremendous trumpets.
