Mile Twelve

About

Boston Bluegrass band’s first show in UK tour is in Maidenhead!

Award-winning American band, Mile Twelve, beautifully walks the line between contemporary and traditional bluegrass and acoustic roots. They perform at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 14 March at 8pm. Tickets are £14 (£12 conc).

Mile Twelve were formed in Boston in 2014. Three of the five members studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. They blend outstanding musicianship with a tight band dynamic. The band has performed extensively across the USA, Canada, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand and Australia. Their music draws on a range of diverse influences.

The Mile Twelve line up comprises five of the most promising young musicians in bluegrass: David Benedict (mandolin), Catherine ‘BB’ Bowness (banjo), Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Evan Murphy (guitar, lead vocals) and Nate Sabat (bass, lead vocals). ‘We all inspire each other and recognise that everyone has different strengths,’ Murphy says. ‘What makes this band so collaborative is that everyone in the band can do something at a really high level. That’s the balance. We’re all challenging each other.’

The band has received multiple International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Awards, presented to emerging bluegrass artists. Mile Twelve won the band category in 2017, shortly before releasing their debut album, Onwards. The following year, Keith-Hynes and Benedict secured IBMA Momentum Awards in instrumental categories, while the band earned two major IBMA Award nominations for Emerging Artist and Instrumental Performance of the Year in 2018.

Expect an evening of captivating songs and adventurous instrumentals – and it’s the very first performance of Mile Twelve’s exclusive first tour of the UK!
