Racing at Ascot 2019: May Racing Weekend

About

The opening fixture of the May Racing Weekend offers the perfect excuse to start your weekend early with an exciting and competitive six-race card as the flat season gets into full swing.

Our May Racing Weekend gets underway amid a fun Friday atmosphere. A host of street -food pop-ups and eclectic bars, plus reduced pricing on tickets, make this an unmissable second day of the flat season at Ascot.

Our May Racing Weekend culminates with the Victoria Cup Raceday, which represents the final chance for racegoers to visit Ascot before June’s Royal Meeting.

As always at Ascot, the action on the track is only part of the story. There is entertainment from tribute acts, plus a wealth of innovative menus and Champagne and cocktail bars to add to the occasion.

The feature race itself is in part a nod to Royal Ascot, albeit also a prestigious prize in its own right. Many of the participants in the Victoria Cup, a seven-furlong handicap, will return to contest major handicaps at the Royal Meeting. But with prize money well in excess of £100,000, it’s a race that every trainer and jockey wants to win.

Off-the-track, Adele, The Rolling Stones and Motown Music are among the tribute acts to have performed throughout the day and after racing in recent years.
