About

Embark on a magical treasure hunt this Summer

An interactive family experience comes to Norden Farm Centre for the Arts with the arrival of This Noisy Isle from Thursday 29 July to Saturday 31 July. Performed outdoors and at various times throughout each morning. Tickets are £12, £10 under 16s. Suitable for ages 7 – 11 years.

You've washed up on a new shore... Can you navigate through this world where nothing is quite what it seems? The inhabitants of this island make strange noises and sprites hide around every corner. Where do you belong?

This Noisy Isle is inspired by Shakespeare’s The Tempest. The original show was initially developed with school children to collate their thoughts and experiences about the refugee crisis rather than imposing the ideals of adults.

In this newly adapted interactive production, families are guided through the adventure by characters from The Tempest including Ariel, a magical sprite who arrived in a strange, unknown world in a puff of smoke, was imprisoned in a tree by a Witch until being released by a powerful Wizard only to become his servant and dream of freedom.

Spun Glass Theatre’s Artistic Director, Jessica Cheetham is passionate about accessible, imaginative and educational theatre for children. She feels that This Noisy Isle is perfect holiday fun for the family: "I love how This Noisy Isle creates a fun, exciting world for children to collaborate with each other, the characters and their surroundings. This collection of stories tells an enduring tale of human resilience and survival, as well as the barriers that displaced people face when they arrive in a new land. By weaving these magical tales, we hope to create discussion and reflection for families about the refugee crisis".

Discover your own magical powers in this truly interactive family experience.
