The President of the United States will be visiting Windsor Castle late afternoon on Friday 13 July for a meeting with Her Majesty the Queen.

Windsor road closures on 12 July (rehearsal)

On Thursday 12 July there will be additional movements rehearsed prior to the usual Guard Change that normally takes place on Thursday mornings.  As a result the following roads will be closed from approximately 07:55 until 08:40 and then again from approximately 08:55 until 09:25:

• Sheet Street
• High Street
• Castle Hill
• St Albans Street
• Park Street
• Thames Street

Every effort is being made to reduce these timings where possible.

Road and Windsor Castle closures on day of the President of the United States's visit, Friday 13 July

Please note Windsor Castle will be fully closed on Friday 13 July and the stretch of the Long Walk between Cambridge Gate and Prince Albert Road (A308) wil also be closed.

On Friday 13 July, in additional to the usual Guard Change movements that take place on Friday mornings, there will be additional movements to and from Victoria Barracks and Windsor Castle between 15:50 and 17:15.  These movements will require the closure of the same roads outlined above.

These road closures will be staffed by Thames Valley Police Officers and will be similar to those used for the Guard Change.  No traffic will be allowed into the roads closed off and this will include delivery vehicles, buses and taxis.

If there are large crowds in the vicinity of Castle Hill, High Street and Thames Street these roads may remain closed for a longer period and will reopen when it is considered safe to do so.  However, during that time there may be the opportunity to provide limited vehicular access to and from Park Street/Sheet Street and St Albans Street via the Victoria Street/Sheet Street junction.

In the event that large crowds attend Windsor on the day, crowd control barriers will be installed on Castle Hill and small sections of Thames Street and High Street.  These will be erected early on Friday morning and will be removed later on Friday evening.  Deliveries will be permitted to business premises in the affected roads outside of those closure times.

The Council is working closely with the Thames Valley Police to ensure this event goes smoothly and we will make every effort to keep disruption to a minimum.
