Windsor and the Royal Borough is particularly well known for its equestrian events and activities. The Royal Windsor Horse Show takes place within the grounds of Windsor Castle; Windsor Horse Trials and the Carriage Driving Championships are both very popular events that take place within Windsor Great Park. Add to this the excitement of horse racing at both Royal Windsor and Ascot Racecourses throughout the year and polo from April to September and there really is something to interest any horse enthusiast.

Horse Riding
If you enjoy horse riding or would like to try it for the first time, the Borough's riding schools have all the facilities you need for lessons and offer hacks through some of the most spectacular countryside including Windsor Great Park. If you have your own horse and wish to ride through the Great Park you must first apply for a permit from the Crown Estate Office, telephone +44 (0)1753 860222.

Polo
Polo features heavily in the borough's sporting calendar with Guard's Club, the Royal County of Berkshire Club and Coworth Park located in Windsor and Ascot. The fixture list usually runs from April to September and all the clubs welcome non members to sit on the sidelines and watch. If you feel like having a go at this exhilarating game, lessons are offered at a number of clubs locally and no experience is needed.
