The annual events programme in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is spectacular and includes sport, arts and culture, royal and state occasions.
There is a strong equestrian link: the Borough is home to the world-famous Ascot Racecourse and Royal Windsor Racecourse, both of which hold meetings throughout the year including the spectacular Royal Ascot in June. One of the main attractions of the equestrian calendar is the Royal Windsor Horse show, held each May in the private grounds of Windsor Castle, and attended by HM The Queen.
Arts and cultural events are in abundance, particularly at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead, the Firestation Centre for Arts and Culture in Windsor and the Theatre Royal. The Theatre Royal Windsor draws in many high-profile actors and plays before they head to the West End or on national tour. In addition the Windsor Festival is held each September and is considered one of the most exciting and varied festivals of its kind in the country.
Windsor, Eton and Maidenhead also have a wonderful array of town centre events at key times of the year like Christmas, Hallowe'en and the summer. Many attractions organise special events too, such as open air theatre and food and drink festivals.
