Only have a day to get a taste of wonderful Windsor and Eton with the family? Then read on for some ideas as to how to get the most out of your time in our lovely town.
Please note that attraction opening times and prices vary; please check individual attraction pages for the latest information, call the Royal Windsor Information Centre on +44 01753 743900 or pop in and speak to them in the Windsor Guildhall for some helpful advice from people who know the area (they're open Wednesday to Sunday). Start the day over breakfast in one of Windsor and Eton's many lovely family-friendly cafes or restaurants.
Then head to Windsor Castle. Discover the Castle with a free family multimedia tour (for children aged 7-11), free family Activity Trail and Family Saturdays and school holiday events and activities.
Remember to check the Castle's provisional closure dates to avoid disappointment and to book your tickets in advance. Please note Windsor Castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Allow 2½ to 3 hours to tour the Castle.
Have lunch in Windsor Castle's Undercroft Cafe or head out to one of the many family-friendly restaurants or cafes in Windsor and Eton. There are so many different types of cuisine so there's lots on the menu.
Enjoy a boat trip on the River Thames with French Brothers. Their 40-minute trip gives you great views of the Castle. Feed the swans on the river afterwards. Explore the area further and enjoy an open top bus ride around Windsor, Datchet and Eton with Golden Tours. Their circular trip lasts 45 minutes. Pay a visit to Dr Choc's Windsor Chocolate Factory and make your own chocolate creations. Or work as a team to escape from one of our Escape Rooms (Escape in 60 or Windsor Escape Experience).
