Keeping the children entertained is not always easy, but here in South East England's Royal Borough there is plenty to keep them occupied. Here are just a few ideas for activities and days out.

INDOOR

Windsor Leisure Centre

A unique riverside location makes this one of the finest facilities around. The leisure pool for all the family has a wave machine, giant slides, wild water creek, cannons, fountain and Oscar the Otter’s Funhouse. It is great all round family fun and when you are finished you can grab a bite to eat in the Riverside Bistro.  Children’s Crèche facilities and Adventure Playzone are available for up to an hour-and-a-half so if you feel like making use of the fitness pool, gym or beauty treatments you can do so with complete peace of mind.

Magnet Leisure Centre

Maidenhead’s superb centre has a 25-metre pool with family fun pools and Cheeky Charlie’s for the 2 to 12 year olds. Crèche facilities are available for up to two hours allowing you to catch some time for yourself. There is a good café for lunch and lots of organised activities for the little ones during the summer school holidays.

TenPin

A great family entertainment centre in Maidenhead next to the Magnet leisure Centre. Enjoy ten pin bowling during the day if it is wet or as a fun night out for all.

Odeon Maidenhead Cinema

This 8-screen multiplex is within easy walking distance from Maidenhead railway station.  Films are shown all day, giving greater choice of not only what you watch but when.  On Saturday and Sunday mornings the cinema offers a greater choice of films for the younger audience, making life a little easier to keep the children occupied at weekends.

OUTDOOR

Braywick Nature Centre

In Maidenhead, Braywick Nature Centre offers a variety of scheduled events and workshops as well as daily activities that are both fun and educational.  Learn about the environment surrounding the Thames and all parts of the ecosystem.

Windsor Great Park

A vast open space providing a natural playground for children. Ideal for picnics, ball games and kite flying and the dog can go too.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts

The Nordon Farm Centre for the Arts offers theatre for children as young as three, with productions during school holidays and at regular points throughout the year.  The Centre runs dance and drama classes on a termly basis, as well as an annual Youth Arts Festival.  There are occasional one-off craft workshops, and the hugely popular weekly Fun at the Farm group for parents and their pre-school children.

Bray Lake

Want to do something that is fun and exciting? Something that is challenging, rewarding and cool? Well look no further!  Bray Lake Watersports has introduced thousands of young people to watersports, many of them returning to sail, windsurf or kayak at the centre for years.  Activity courses are run during the Easter and summer holidays, as well as the spring and autumn half terms.  For the keen young enthusiast the Junior Club will develop your skills further and introduce you into the exciting world.of competition.  Or perhaps you simply want to do something different for you next birthday party.  Whatever you are looking for in watersports, Bray Lake has something for everyone.  Weekend Courses run throughout the year.

River Thames

Great for messing about in boats whether on one of the passenger cruisers or on your own boat hired for an hour or a day.

Extreme Motion

Extreme Motion in Alexandra Gardens, Windsor, offers a Skate Park with rails and ramps for all ages where you can skate all day!  The Mini Golf Course is open and ready for action and the café provides tea, coffee, ice cream, soft drinks, pizza, sandwiches- whatever you fancy.  You can hire a bike with a map and ride for miles on cycle paths and routes around Windsor, Eton and surrounding areas.  At the Skate Shop there is a wide range of bikes, skateboards, skates and clothes on offer.
