There are times when only exclusive use will do. Fortunately there are plenty of venues offering that option – here are five with a difference, interesting stories and locations as well as all the modern facilities you would expect to find.
This red bricked Queen Anne mansion dates from 1705 and was built for Sir Robert Walpole's daughter, Lady Mary, and Charles Churchill, a relation of Sir Winston Churchill. The Royal Berkshire offers 63 bedrooms and is situated in 15 acres of landscaped gardens.
Located next to the main inn, The Malthouse is a detached Victorian building with five function rooms including the Oak Room, the oak panelled Library and the spacious Music Room. Outside are a private walled garden and lawn, tennis court and private entrance. Exclusive hire provides access to the entire house, gardens, 14 bedrooms plus a private bar and personal service team.
Built on the site of a former dairy farm, this multi-form arts venue includes two original, listed buildings; a Georgian Farmhouse and restored 18th Century timber framed Long Barn, as well as the studio theatre, art gallery, farmhouse meetings rooms and a cafe-bar. There are many internal and external commissioned artworks, including the café bar furniture and large willow figure sculptures.
This 17th century former royal residence was named for the Duke of Cumberland (second son of George II), and historically was home to the Rangers of Windsor Great Park. Comprising three buildings – the Lodge, the Mews (originally the stable block) and Grooms Cottage, there are flexible options available to hire for residential and non-residential events including away-days, conferences and receptions. There are 60 bedrooms available, mainly in twin format.
