Enjoy Festival Season in Windsor

Windsor plays host to a Festival and Fringe Festival this month.

The Windsor Fringe (22 September to 7 October) is the second oldest fringe in the UK and this year’s highlights include new immersive drama and cutting edge dance, the newest generation of Cuban musicians, Artists Open Houses and the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing.

Windsor Festival (17 September to 1 October) is a veritable smorgasbord of cultural treats!

From talks, walks and carriage rides to music, exhibitions and open houses, there's bound to be something to appeal.

Cumberland Lodge

Former royal residence to open its doors for Heritage Open Days

Cumberland Lodge, the former royal residence in Windsor Great Park, is to open its doors for the Heritage Open Days festival for the first time this September.

Guided tours will be available on the hour, free of charge, from 10pm till 3pm, on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 September 2017, covering the history and heritage of the Lodge and the work of the educational foundation it has housed since 1947.

Parts of the house and grounds will also be available for visitors to explore at their leisure, until 4pm.

Tour places are available on a first come, first served basis and must be booked in advance, by 6pm on 7 September.


Enjoy mouth-watering action at Ascot Racecourse with the Festival of Food & Wine

The Festival of Food & Wine will begin on Thursday 7th September and end on Sunday 10th September, with racing on Friday and Saturday only.

Enjoy mouth-watering action, on and off the track, at one of summer’s most popular racing weekends combined with a fabulous food and wine festival, in association with delicious. magazine, making it a four-day feasting extravaganza.

With Flat racing on Friday and Saturday only, you can also savour and sip top-quality food and drink from over 100 stalls on the Food Avenue with live chef demonstrations and tastings across all four days.

Pop down to Windsor’s Outdoor Cinema and Night Market

On Saturday 9 September, Windsor hosts its successful Outdoor Cinema and Night Market.

Alongside each movie there will be themed children’s workshops in King Edward Court, organised by Busy Buttons Creative Studio.

The Night Market will feature some of Windsor’s regular independent food market traders as well as new faces offering visitors an eclectic range of foods.

The Night Market will also feature craft stalls, entertainers, bar, live music and children’s rides.

Get arty at Cookham & Maidenhead Arts Trail

Visit working artists and designers in their own studios and community exhibition spaces over the weekend of 16 and 17 September, 10am to 6pm at the Cookham & Maidenhead Arts Trail.

All venues are located within a 5-mile radius and there’s free entry to all venues taking part.
There will be refreshments, demonstrations and a range of original work for sale.

Make, bake, bark and grow and Maidenhead Town Show, Saturday 16 September

Bringing the best bits of a country fair to the Town Centre, as we celebrate Maidenhead's creativity through baking, craft, horticulture, and other competitions, craft and food stalls, music and performances by local groups, and of course - the dog show!

Drink Coffee, Eat Cake and Fundraise!

Eat, drink and raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support by dropping by the back arch of Windsor Royal Shopping between 10am and 12:30pm, 29 September 2017.

Windsor Castle Round Tower and Moat Garden

See Windsor Castle from a different angle

Climb the 200 steps to the top of Windsor Castle's iconic Round Tower and enjoy breathtaking views across the historic Windsor parkland, the Thames Valley, London skyline as well as the extent of Windsor Castle.

You’ll be 65.5 metres above the River Thames and you’ll get a close view of the castle’s 15-metre flagpole which flies the Royal Standard when The Queen is in residence and the Union Flag when Her Majesty is away from Windsor. 

Please note, there is an extra charge for this tour and you must be aware of the safety information and height restrictions before booking your ticket.
