The Legoland shuttle service operates between Windsor town centre and Legoland.
Taxis (Hackney Carriages) and private hire vehicles are a convenient way of getting around. Taxis can be hailed on street or from a rank, but private hire vehicles must be pre-booked by phone, post or in person at the operator’s office. Read more about Hackney Carriage Fares here.
The main taxi ranks are Thames Street, Windsor (outside Windsor Castle); Farm Yard, Windsor (outside Windsor and Eton Riverside Station); Station Forecourt, Maidenhead; Station Forecourt, Ascot.
A number of taxis have been adapted to meet the needs of disabled people and wheelchair users. Read more on our Travelling with a Disability page.
The Royal Borough Cycle Map shows quiet roads that are suitable for cycling as well as dedicated cycle routes. It also shows locations of local bike shops and town centre cycle parking.
Windsor Great Park is an ideal location to explore by bike. Motor vehicles are restricted, so visitors will often enjoy traffic-free roads. Cyclists must keep to permitted roads and paths, and off-road cycling is not permitted. A guide to cycling in the Park can be downloaded from Windsor Great Park's website.
Why not use pedal power and explore the Windsor area by bike? There are two Windsor-based companies offering a range of hybrid and road bikes for hire by the day or for a few days. Take a look at Windsor Cycle Hire and The Bike Company for more information.
We hope you have a trouble-free journey to Windsor. Please visit our travel information page for information on any temporary road closures that may affect your journey time and route choice.
