We’re doing a regular feature on business partners we work with in Windsor and Maidenhead. We'll be working with Michelle Rees of Eventprofslive and here's a bit more about her.
Name: Michelle Rees
Company Name: Event Consult & Eventprofslive
What does your job involve?
I co-own Eventprofslive which is the leading network for corporate event managers in London. I also own have my full-service event management, venue finding, and consultancy called, Event Consult Limited. I work on a handful of projects each year in conjunction with my role as Head of Events for an amazing corporate in London. I wear three hats and love every single one of them.
How long have you been in the industry?
12 years
Career highs
There are so many to be honest. I was voted Inspirational Women of the Year a few years ago which was a definite high. I also run a mentoring programme for other event professionals and I get a great deal of joy from that as well. I get my highs from so many things: producing well executed, well attended events, seeing my team thrive, running networking events that deliver great experiences for not just the attendees but our venues as well. I have also produced a few high profile, celebrity events which I must say, leave you on a high and look pretty good on that cv!
What do you love about your job and the industry?
I love being in events, there isn’t a better career for me. My favourite part of the industry are the people, I keep my network strong and I love how we all support each other through different roles, different companies and different career transitions. I love seeing people go out on their own and do well and I love supporting whoever I can when they do so. Oh, and I love a tasting!
What is your dream weekend away?
I got married in a stunning hotel called Vila Orsula in Dubrovnik, that is my dream weekend away. The hotel is gorgeous, the food outstanding and the view of the ocean from your sunbed is next level dreamy plus its only a few hours away on the plane. Also it makes for a fabulous location for an offsite or away day and even though I have now run three events there, it hasn’t tainted my view of the property – I love it dearly.
What exciting plans are in the pipeline for the next 12 months?
My role as Head of Events keeps me very busy three days a week and as we scale, I love seeing our team grow and execute some amazing events. In the other areas of my event world, apart from being able to support the Windsor.gov team (which I am so, so excited about), I am working on a few private events which are quite high profile and very exciting and have a few huge international venue finding briefs which are my favourite to work on. I have spent a huge part of my career managing events internationally, so I know what I am looking for and I know what my clients need in their proposals. I love this part of my consultancy and I can’t wait to see what other clients I can support. With Eventprofslive we are gaining new corporate event managers as members every single day. We run a monthly networking event in London and then a few FAM’s a month which keeps us very very busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
