Cliveden House

About

Just 40 minutes from London, Cliveden is a sublime escape from the city. Featured on Condé Nast Traveller’s Gold List 2020, this five-star property sits amongst 376 acres of magnificent Grade 1 listed formal National Trust gardens and woodland.  The Cliveden Spa offers a glorious setting in which to relax and unwind, while for those looking to explore, there’s the option of a leisurely boat trip along the Thames followed by afternoon tea in the main house. For a special dinner, The Cliveden Dining Room offers a menu of divine dishes, while The Astor Grill is perfect for a relaxed lunch with friends and family.

Professionalism, unbeatable service and attention to detail are the hallmarks of Cliveden as a meeting venue. The finest of luxury conference hotels, Cliveden is not only the perfect location for business meetings and conferences but is also ideally located for entertaining key clients, showcasing new products or simply thanking the team. There are few places more luxurious or enchanting than Cliveden for a private celebration or meal.

Conferences and events

Discover a range of flexible spaces in this sophisticated House boasting over 350 years of remarkable history.

The Churchill

Winston Churchill was a regular guest at Cliveden in Nancy Astor’s era and although they did not often agree, we think they would thoroughly approve of the Churchill conference facilities which have been built in the Clocktower Courtyard, adjacent to The Astor Grill restaurant. This bespoke meeting room is situated in the former mews garage complex. Equipped with the latest technology and plenty of natural daylight there is also parking close by. At the heart of the house, Churchill also has access to a private paved courtyard.

The Boudoir

The former sitting room of Lady Astor is now an elegant venue for entertaining, available for corporate events and private parties and boasting views of the parterre and lawns. Romantic drapes frame the exquisite room, which interconnects with The Tote Room and is located on the ground floor.

The French Dining Room

Plan a business meeting or event in the captivating French Dining Room at Cliveden House. Flooded with natural daylight and adorned with intricate gilded panelling, it's one of the House's most dazzling rooms, complete with beautiful views overlooking the river and National Trust estate.

It was on a visit to Paris in 1897 that William Waldorf Astor was shown the ornate gilded panelling in Madame de Pompadour's 18th century dining room at the Château d’Asnières. The proportions exactly matched those of the dining room at Cliveden House, resulting in him buying the panelling, table and chairs and having the room reconstructed in his home.

Seating up to 60 guests, the French Dining Room is a Rococo masterpiece retaining its extravagance to make for an incomparable private dining experience.

Waldo’s

Paying homage to Cliveden House’s rich history with elegant, fine furnishings whilst also celebrating modernity, Waldo’s is comprised of two interconnecting rooms.

Both have air-conditioning and complimentary WiFi for a thoroughly contemporary experience. They serve as an innovative meeting and dining space, ideal for corporate events and social occasions alike.

The Screening Room

The show must go on, and it does in The Screening Room. Our fully air-conditioned and state-of-the-art Screening Room is great for screening movies, an impressive presentation or a movie night!

With complimentary WiFi, it's fully equipped for corporate events including product launches, housed within our Grade I listed country home.

Interconnects perfectly with Waldo's.

The Cellar Dining Room

Once Lord Astor's private wine cellar, The Cellar Dining Room has been beautifully restored and is perfect for a more intimate, informal setting. It has brick walls, impressive pillars and a vaulted ceiling, making an unusual and atmospheric dining room for smaller parties and private gatherings. It's also perfect for hosting wine tastings.

The Tote

The Tote Room is the perfect place for the meeting of minds on the ground floor of our Grade I stately home.

Comfortable furniture is arranged around a cosy fireplace, making for a relaxed and distinguished setting for any corporate occasion. It can be interconnected with the adjoining Boudoir, offering a flexible option.

The Motor House

A versatile meeting space has been created in the Clocktower Courtyard at Cliveden.  Situated directly opposite The Churchill meeting room, The Motor House, formerly the garage complex for Lord Astor’s beloved Rolls Royce collection, is now a bespoke conference and banqueting room with easy access to the private paved courtyard and the adjacent Astor Grill informal restaurant.

Dining and accommodation

Enjoy modern British cuisine in exquisite surroundings at the House’s formal dining option, The Cliveden Dining Room, with stunning view across the parterre and dishes designed to thrill and delight. Dishes include Spring Black Truffle Risotto to start with Wild Garlic Gnocchi or maybe Rack of Spring Lamb for your main with Lemon Verbena Crème brûlée to finish.

The Astor Grill at Cliveden is a cosmopolitan venue which is steeped in history. Its romantic setting offers all the style and legendary hospitality that Cliveden is famous for, and it is the perfect place to escape and enjoy lunch or a relaxed supper. Located in the charming old stable block which once house Lord Astor’s prized fillies and adopting an equestrian theme in its décor, The Astor Grill is full of character and offers a simple and informal approach to dining at Cliveden with a focus on a mixture of classic American and traditional British dishes. The Grill also boasts a Terrace which is popular for al fresco dining in the warmer months.

Cliveden House has 47 undeniably enticing and luxurious rooms and suites as well as Spring Cottage, Cliveden’s luxury hideaway on the riverbank. Every room is named after a prominent figure from the House’s history and has its own unique style, ranging from the very traditional to those with an ever so slightly modern twist, it is Cliveden after all.
