Discover a village pub or an historic inn in the countryside. The Hurley House Hotel is a boutique hotel and restaurant situated in the village of Hurley. The Fox and Hounds restaurant is located at the Bishopsgate entrance to Windsor Great Park and The Loch and The Tyne overlooks the countryside of Old Windsor.
As the beautiful River Thames meanders through the Royal Borough, explore our restaurants by the water. Try The Boatman or Côte Brasserie.
Check out the town centres for a mixture of both independent restaurants in Windsor – such as 1423 China Kitchen – as well as more familiar high street names such as PizzaExpress Windsor, wagamama, The Real Greek and Bill’s.
Keen foodies will have the village of Bray, near Maidenhead, on their radar. For a relatively small place, Bray is BIG on fine food; three Michelin-starred restaurants make it a culinary Mecca!
First up is the Waterside Inn (run by Alain Roux), which has been turning out impeccable and sophisticated French dishes since 1972.
The Fat Duck is Heston Blumenthal’s outrageously experimental restaurant offering guests a truly unique dining experience. The 15th-century Hind's Head, which has its own Michelin star, is also part of The Fat Duck Group.
And if this wasn’t enough, Caldesi in Campagna offers the finest of Tuscan cooking on the banks of the River Thames in Bray.
Maidenhead has some top Italian restaurants, such as Sauce and Flour, where fresh pasta is made every day.
Combine a trip to see the latest film release at the Odeon with a bite to eat in one of the local restaurants.
Stanley Spencer’s scenic birthplace Cookham has some good options: Malik’s is an award-winning Indian tandoori place and there’s Bel & The Dragon located in an ancient coaching inn on Cookham High Street.
Or what could be better than taking a stroll along the riverside at Maidenhead then enjoying a drink or a meal at either The Boathouse at Boulters Lock or Roux at Skindles, overlooking the River Thames?
A little further downstream in Bray, Mediterranevm is set in an idyllic location in Bray Marina.
Back in Windsor the following eating places offers visitors culinary and cultural diversity. Al Fassia is a small but stylish Moroccan restaurant decked out with wooden shutters and rich fabrics; they serve homemade tagines, couscous and lots of vegetarian dishes such as Zaalouk (grilled aubergines with tomato) and Mangoub (broad bean stew).
In the cobbled streets surrounding Windsor Guildhall discover Plate No 6, an independently owned tapas restaurant, drawing upon the culinary riches of the Mediterranean Basin.
In the mood for freshly-cooked fish and chips? Great British Fish & Chips are on the High Street, a stone's throw from Windsor Castle.
Veering towards vegan? Other Space Arts' fully plant-based café and restaurant serves up creative small plates, bar snacks, and seasonal dining, all ethically sourced and packed with flavour. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, it’s the perfect spot for a relaxed brunch, a pre-show dinner, or late-night drinks with a cultural twist.
Hankering after a succulent steak? Then try Cattle Grid in Windsor Royal. Looking for a beautiful burger? Hot foot it to Honest Burgers or Five Guys.
With so many dining options near the Theatre Royal, Windsor, there is plenty of choice for a pre-theatre supper too before the curtain goes up.
In Ascot you’ll find a wide ranging menu including wood-fired pizzas and home comforts/Sunday Roasts at The Royal Foresters, and tapas at Vall de Cavall.
Visitors going really upmarket can check out the fabulous restaurants located within luxury country-house hotels such as Fairmont Windsor Park and Coworth Park.
