The colours of autumn are nature’s final flourish before the onset of winter. The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is beautiful at any time of year but as the seasons move to the oranges, golds and reds of autumn, perhaps this is as good a time as any to visit and stay with us! Choose a cosy place to stay in the Windsor area, perhaps where there's a crackling log fire to sit by. Sample the new season's food and drink menus at our tasty restaurants and eateries, perhaps with an autumnal cocktail to warm the cockles! Wrap up and admire the autumn colours and 'leaf peep' while you're out and about, maybe exploring the River Thames or discovering the delights of Windsor Great Park. Then look ahead to winter and get ideas and inspiration for your Christmas shopping!
Now the nights are drawing in and the weather is getting cooler, the prospect of a cosy, warm place where you can put up your feet or rest your head after a day’s sightseeing is even more appealing! Some of our accommodation providers even have that roaring and crackling log fire to welcome you. We have plenty of welcoming places to choose from including hotels, guest accommodation and self catering to suit all budgets. Explore our accommodation options here.
If you enjoy leaf peeping, conker collecting and bracing walks then you will delight in the Royal Borough’s countryside, parks, gardens and open spaces such as the phenomenal Windsor Great Park. The National Trust estate at Cliveden, near Maidenhead, is also a sight to behold as the colours change, in particular from the stretch of the River Thames at Cliveden Reach. We’ve selected our five best walks for autumn colour here.
