Outdoor Dining in the Windsor Area

Are you looking for somewhere in the Windsor and Maidenhead area to enjoy food and drink in the fresh air? There are plenty of lovely restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels with outside space so you can dine al fresco! We’d argue that food definitely tastes better in the open air!

Stroll into Windsor Royal Station and you’ll discover lots of cafés and restaurants with outside seating yet also protected from the elements by the elegant glass arches of the Victorian railway station. Sit yourself down at Bill’s Windsor for one of their famous brunches or drop by Cinnamon Café for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon 'pick me up'.

What could be nicer than dining al fresco by the riverside? Côte Brasserie is on the Eton side of the Thames, just by the pedestrian bridge that separates Windsor and Eton. Request a table on the terrace right by the water’s edge for a perfect view of Windsor Castle and a great place to watch the river traffic float by! The Runnymede on Thames Hotel offers idyllic views of the river with so many ways to enjoy food al fresco: riverside picnics, buffet dining on Leftbank Restaurant’s terrace as well as sizzling specials at the River Hideout!

Gilbey's in Eton features outside tables right on the high street for those who like to watch the world go by, as well as a private courtyard with just four tables for those who prefer to eat outdoors. It's a cosy space decorated with pretty flowers and plants in the summer (courtyard available for weekend lunches and dinners only).

Patch on the Plaza, in Windsor's town centre, is a family-run al fresco bar and restaurant. The former concrete space has been transformed into a patch of green, now alive with plants and bustling with chatter, filled with the smells of delicious food and the gentle clinking of knives and forks.

The Royal Foresters, on the outskirts of Ascot, is perfect for a bite to eat in the fresh air with plenty of outdoor seating available. It’s a great place for food before travelling to the races at Ascot Racecourse, and for drinks afterwards to celebrate your winnings!

Why not escape to the country? Enjoy some laid-back luxury at Hurley House Hotel where their unique terraces will give your al fresco dining a wonderful rural feel. Sample food from their international menu or their Japanese menu featuring the freshest sushi in Berkshire! Savour the views at Danesfield House Hotel where its sun-drenched terrace is the perfect choice in the warmer months. At Cliveden House enjoy a delicious lunch in the relaxed setting of The Astor Grill, located in the charming old stable block, which once housed Lord Astor’s most prized fillies. The menu focusses on a mixture of classic American and British dishes.

Stirrups Hotel is situated in a beautiful 10-acre countryside setting. Take full advantage of the al fresco dining experience, including the option to eat and drink in one of their private cabanas!
