About

Resting in the heart of Windsor Great Park, The Savill Garden is one of Britain's greatest ornamental gardens. Commissioned by George V and created by Sir Eric Savill in 1932, The Savill Garden has been an inspiration for all.

A royal connection continues to run through the garden, and on your visit see the Queen Elizabeth II Temperate House, the Golden Jubilee Garden, and the Rose Garden opened by Queen Elizabeth II in July 2010.

Today, this natural haven of 35 acres of beautifully designed gardens and woodland can be enjoyed by everyone, from dedicated horticulturists to those who just want to spend a relaxing day out with family or friends.

A place of discovery, The Savill Garden contains distinctive interlocking gardens including the Hidden Gardens, Spring Wood, the Summer Gardens, the New Zealand Garden, Summer Wood, The Glades, Autumn Wood and the Winter Beds.

Renowned for its mix of native and exotic species, The Savill Garden joins together design, colour and texture to delight the senses. Visit throughout the seasons and you will see there is always something new to discover.

Group visits to The Savill Garden

The Savill Garden is perfect for a group visit and Windsor Great Park has launched its new digital group visitors guide for The Savill Garden, detailing a wide selection of tours and experiences for group visits in 2023.

The guide includes details on the ‘The Savill Garden & Royal Heritage Tour’, which provides the opportunity to be immersed in 1000 years of Royal History with a personally guided coach tour of Windsor Great Park. Exclusively for groups, visitors can enjoy the unique national and natural heritage of Windsor Great Park when visiting The Savill Garden. This limited availability tour allows visitors to understand how Windsor Great Park works in the modern day, as well as learning about its long history. The tour, which lasts approximately one and a half hours, will finish with the rare opportunity to disembark from the coach at the top of the Long Walk, providing unique vistas of London and the iconic view from The Copper Horse statue of George III to Windsor Castle beyond.

Alongside this are a varied selection of experiences for groups which include:

• The Savill Garden and River Boat Cruise – three options that include catering for you to choose from
• Windsor Castle and The Savill Garden
• NEW FOR 2023: The Valley Gardens guided tour

The Savill Garden sits in the heart of Windsor Great Park which makes it perfect for rambling groups. We have three recommended walks that you can do from The Savill Garden Visitor Centre which are:

• Through The Deer Park and to the top of The Long Walk (3.8 miles)
• To The Valley Gardens (1.7 miles)
• A lakeside walk of Virginia Water (5.1 miles)

The history and heritage of The Garden is brought to life with a private tour of The Savill Garden, led by one of our guides. And then, why not finish it off with a cream tea or one of our group catering packages from The Savill Garden Kitchen. The Savill Garden offers the perfect group day out.

With coach parking right beside the main entrance, groups can spend their time exploring all 35 acres, taking in the beautifully curated scenery and experiencing the gentle environment around them. And, accessible to all with special group rates and discounts, now is the perfect time to plan and book your 2023 itineraries.
