Son of Town Hall

About

A mythical musical world comes to Maidenhead

Musicians Ben Parker, from London, and David Berkeley, from New Mexico, bring their mythical musical world to Norden Farm Centre for the Arts. Son of Town Hall is on Sunday 23 September at 7.30pm. Tickets are £14.

Imagine if Simon and Garfunkel were lost at sea, salt in their beards, wind at their backs, and whiskey in their bottles. What songs would they sing whilst stomping like melodious madmen on the boards of their boat? Son of Town Hall creates a world that transcends time and space, complete with Victorian-era outfits, meditations about the sea and songs that beg you to sing along. They have performed to packed audiences across America and Europe.

Ben Parker is a highly sought-after London-based songwriter/producer/multi-instrumentalist. David Berkeley is a celebrated singer/songwriter/guitarist/ author. Together they have imagined a world that transcends time and space.  The pair wanders the world aboard a raft bringing songs of wonder and woe, and stories of heartbreak and heroism. A travelling show complete with sublime harmonies, intricate guitar work and Victorian costumes, you’ll be moved to sing along and stomp your feet. The show is three-parts concert, one-part theatre.

Son of Town Hall springboards from the story of the two musicians finding themselves side by side aboard a junk raft (The Son of Town Hall) crossing the mighty Atlantic in search of new lands, new inspiration and to recover squandered fortune. David says: ‘Music and storytelling kept us afloat, kept us alive, really. We developed a blend and a sound that led even the sea creatures and the moon to pay attention.’

Their show will leave you transformed, with your heart full of laughter and tears, drunk on adventure and the tragic beauty of the human condition.
