With so much to see and do, we always recommend a relaxing overnight stay or short break to make the most of all the Royal Borough has to offer. Our lovely accommodation providers can’t wait to welcome you. We have a superb range of hotels, self-catering accommodation, guest houses, B&Bs and camping and caravan options too. Whether you wish to be town centre or a little more rural, luxury and boutique or budget friendly, we have something to tempt you!
We want you to feel confident when you visit us and our local tourism and hospitality businesses have been extremely busy putting measures in place to make you feel welcome, safe and secure.
Look out for VisitEngland’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ mark, a sign that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. We’re adding this mark to more and more businesses’ web pages.
Before visiting the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, do familiarise yourself with the latest Government guidelines. Please also refer to the guidelines about meeting others safely.
Whatever your reason for visiting the Royal Borough we appreciate that you will be keen to know what toilet facilities are provided. The council provides a number of public conveniences throughout the borough and you can find out their location and opening hours here. Wherever possible disabled and baby changing facilities are provided. Please bear in mind that social distancing and extra cleaning of toilet facilities means you may well have to queue so do try to plan ahead and allow extra time.
Motorists using Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead car parks can now park completely touch free by using the UK’s no.1 parking app, RingGo. By paying for parking quickly and easily on your phone, there is no longer any need to handle coins or queue up to use the parking machine. In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, motorists are understandably wary about having to touch coins or parking machines. So, to keep everyone as safe as possible, the council is recommending the use of RingGo to pay for parking instead. Download the app before you visit! Find out more about RingGo on our parking pages.
Exercise and fresh air are incredibly important for our physical and mental wellbeing, now more than ever. It is great to enjoy the benefits of being outside whilst being mindful of protecting ourselves and others from Coronavirus and respecting social distancing.
The Royal Borough is blessed to have many parks and open spaces, National Trust land, Windsor Great Park, River Thames Path, walks, cycle routes and bridleways through beautiful countryside for your enjoyment. Please check car parking and the provisions of visitor facilities in advance of your visit. Better still, arrive by foot or cycle wherever possible. Cycle Maps and Guides are available to download from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead website.
While you’re out and about, please don’t forget the Countryside Code:
🌱 Respect everyone
🌱 Protect the environment (including taking litter home and bagging/binning dog poo)
🌱 Enjoy the outdoors!
If you are visiting any of our parks and open spaces, please dispose of your litter by using bins if they are provided or packing some refuse bags and being prepared to take your waste home with you. Thank you for doing your part by keeping our spaces litter free for the next people that visit.
If it is busy when you visit, please consider looking for another place to enjoy the great outdoors; we have plenty of space to go around.
1. Check that important facilities – like toilets and car parks – are open.
2. Take advantage of touch-free parking at Royal Borough car parks by downloading the RingGo app before you arrive.
3. Wanting to visit one of our attractions? Many are introducing systems such as timed tickets, pre-bookable tickets and one-way routes so do check with individual providers online in advance. You can also book tickets for some attractions via tickets.windsor.gov.uk.
4. Find out which of our restaurants, cafes and pubs will be open and serving customers outdoors from 12 April. We will be updating our website to feature eating and drinking outlets with gardens or outdoor space.
5. Don’t forget to keep one metre plus apart from anyone who is not in your household, whether you are walking, running, cycling, sitting down or sunbathing.
6. Please wear a face covering at all times in shops and on public transport (buses, trains, taxis, etc).
7. Do carry a bank card; many businesses are only accepting cashless payments at present.
8. Take hand sanitiser with you in case you cannot find anywhere to wash your hands. It's still incredibly important.
9. If you are planning on eating outdoors, please get rid of your rubbish responsibly or pack your own bin bag and be prepared to take your litter home with you.
10. Leave the car behind where possible and visit nearby attractions by walking or cycling.
