A special double bill featuring one of the UK’s leading saxophonists and a multi-award winning trumpet player. Bruce Adams/Alex Garnett Quintet is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 5 September at 8pm. Tickets are £17.50.
Bruce Adams is a masterly trumpet player in the grand manner. He speaks a musical language which everybody understands and he speaks it with uncommon elegance and vigour.
His legendary richness of tone has recently been enhanced by his partnership with Eclipse trumpets, providing him with a trumpet, flugel and cornet. Bruce’s long career has brought him associations with many top players who value his spectacular technique and lyrical capacity - from Kenny Baker’s Dozen to a regular feature spot in Alan Barnes’ Octet. Bruce is a multiple British Jazz Awards Winner, having been nominated more than twenty times!
He continues to ply his trade encompassing jazz styles ranging from Louis Armstrong to the modern-day.
Alex Garnett has been one of the leading saxophonists in the UK and Europe for over two decades. He is instantly recognisable by his dark husky sound. He is a versatile musician and first call sideman. Alex has enjoyed success as both a jazz artist, composer and arranger. He is an in-demand session, studio and commercial saxophonist, having racked up countless recording credits along the way.
He has played with everyone from Wynton Marsalis to the Rolling Stones and having had a weekly jam session residency at Ronnie Scott’s, he has provided a much-needed platform for a younger generation of rising stars. Garnett has the whole jazz tradition under his fingertips, so expect some songs you haven’t heard in a while.
Joining them is Alex Hutton on piano. Alex is an established pianist on the London jazz scene. Over the past 10 years, he has worked with most of the leading figures (such as Jim Mullen, Pete King and more). He began playing piano at the age of 5. After completing a BA Hons degree in American studies, he turned his focus fully to jazz piano, winning the appraisal of the late Ronnie Scott.
This will be a night to remember!
Tickets are £17.50
