A live music experience for music lovers aged 4 to 104 – family concert Concertini with The Brass Funkeys is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday 25 July at 11.30am. Tickets are £13.50 | £11.50 under 16s | £45 Family and Friends (4 people). Age guidance 4+ years.

This summer, The Brass Funkeys return to Norden Farm with their trademark high-energy brass spectacular. Expect everything from soulful jazz funeral marches, reggae, gypsy and swing to pumping brass-driven funk. Be inspired by sizzling saxes, screaming trumpets and soulful trombones in a relaxed atmosphere where nobody minds if the kids wriggle!

The concert is presented by Concertini, who have been creating joyful, family-friendly music experiences for over 10 years. Concertini was formed by musician, teacher and mum of two Julia Bentley Dawkes, with a purpose to introduce children and their families to different styles of music and musical instruments and to listen to live music in a relaxed setting. Each Concertini features a different live band or ensemble and is produced in a relaxed and enjoyable way.

The Brass Funkeys is a nine-piece collective and were formed in 2011. They have a unique sound forged from their strong personalities and eclectic individual tastes, whilst still paying homage to their New Orleans Brass Band roots. Locals may have seen them perform at Norden Farm’s Lantern Parade in 2019. 

The band draws from the traditions of New Orleans with skilled musicianship.  Reggae, Drum ‘n’ Bass, gypsy, swing and Latin influences are exposed revealing a band bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy.

The Brass Funkeys have honed their skills playing the club and festival circuits in the UK and Europe, always exploring new musical directions while refining their exciting, eclectic and energetic live show, bursting at the seams with ideas and infectious energy

They frequently appear on festival main stages including Glastonbury, Boomtown, Wilderness, Lost Village, Love Supreme and North Sea Jazz Festival - as well as performing at world renowned venues including Ronnie Scott’s, Koko, Cambridge Corn Exchange.

After the concert, children can stay on for the chance to try the instruments, courtesy of Dawkes Music.
