Award winning comedian tries to save the world
After a sellout at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, this award nominated show comes to Maidenhead. Kate Cheka - A Messiah Comes is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 30 May at 8pm. Tickets are £16.50.
Bighead Comedy presents the reigning Funny Women Award winner and Chortle Best Newcomer nominee’s debut hour where she tries to save the world.
Where does this messiah come from? Is it the second coming or has she just inherited her mother’s psychological disorder? If you’re anxious about the state of the world (or just your own mental state), join this BBC Newcomer Awards semi-finalist as she becomes the first woman to wonder what many men have wondered before her: am I actually God?
Kate Cheka began comedy in Berlin where she organised and hosted two shows, a femme-identifying open mic and a woman of colour showcase. The Funny Women Award winner of 2023, she was also a Chortle Best Newcomer nominee 2024 and nominee for NextUp’s Biggest Award in Comedy newcomer.
She was the first comedian artist-in-residence at A Studio in the Woods in New Orleans in the winter of 2024 where she produced and hosted The Late Late Stage Capitalism Show – a late-night style talk show about climate change.
This debut show was born in New Orleans, and is now touring the UK.
