Join your host Jeff Lloyd as he revisits Marilyn Monroe’s signature film. Must See Movies: Some Like It Hot is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 25 July at 8pm. Tickets are £13.50.
After the success of February’s inaugural Must See Movies which screened The Graduate, Jeff takes a deep dive into this classic 1959 movie. It stars Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon alongside Marilyn Monroe. Jeff introduces the film with a summary of what to expect and what to look out for. Then we’ll show the film in its entirety together with an old school intermission!
The American crime comedy is about two musicians who witness a gangland murder. They disguise themselves as women to escape the Chicago mobsters who committed the act. The pair join all female band Sweet Sue and her Society Syncopators on a train to Miami. They befriend the band’s vocalist Sugar Kane (Monroe) and hilarity ensues.
The film received six Academy Award nominations, received a BAFTA and three Golden Globe. It has been ranked number 7 in Time Out’s poll of Top 100 Films.
Jedd Lloyd says: “It's such a thrill to be able to showcase amazing films in Blu-Ray glory on the big screen. There's loads of films out there that people think that they should have seen and this will be the chance to tick those boxes and fill in the gaps!”
Must See Movies is sponsored by SaveEnergy Cooperative. They are a community-owned and led group set up to provide free, low-cost and paid-for advice to help local homeowners save money on their energy bills, with advice on everything from letterbox covers to loft insulation and solar heating. So, if some don't like it that hot, the advice might be to turn your thermostat down!
Tickets are £13.50
