Australian-born harpist, vocalist and composer. Norden Farm Jazz Club: Tara Minton Quartet is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 22 May at 8pm. Tickets are £17.50.
Endorsed Les Harpes Camac, Tara Minton holds a Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and is recognised for her distinctive voice on both harp and vocals. Tara has worked with artists including Bjork, ESKA, Stan Sulzmann, Geoff Gascoyne, Emma Rawicz and Alice Zawadski and has appeared with The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Opera North, The Royal Ballet and the Australian World Orchestra.
She leads her own original project as a harpist-vocalist and sings with The Blues and Roots Ensemble, a music education charity promoting improvisation, integration and social change through the music of Charles Mingus, Abdullah Ibrahim and Dorothy Ashby.
Tara was a finalist in the World Harp Competition 2021 and was invited to perform a full recital at the 2022 World Harp Congress in Cardiff. She has appeared with the Australian World Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall for the BBC Proms and was a featured artist with The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars. Tara is a vocalist and workshop leader and also co-hosts The Jazz Podcast with saxophonist Rob Cope.
Joining Tara for Norden Farm’s May Jazz Club is David Ingamells on drums, Ed Barbar on bass, Ed Hogben on trumpet and special guest Alex Hutton on piano.
Alex is an established pianist on the London jazz scene. Over the past 10 years, he has worked with many of the leading figures including Jim Mullen, Pete King and more. He began playing piano at the age of five. After completing a BA (Hons) degree in American Studies, he turned his focus fully to jazz piano, winning the appraisal of the late Ronnie Scott.
