Norden Farm Centre for the Arts bring their annual community Kite Festival to Boyn Grove Park (Punt Hill) on Sunday 31 August between 12pm and 4pm. Round off the summer holidays in style with an afternoon of fun for all the community. Entry to the festival is free. No tickets are required, simply come along on the day.
Don't forget to bring along your picnic blanket or camping chairs and get set for an unmissable afternoon of entertainment. The 2025 line up includes live music, storytelling, interactive performances, the Norden Farm pop up bar, local food stalls and, of course, kite flying!
Bring your own kite – either homemade at one of our workshops or shop bought - and take it to the skies. You can also buy a kite to decorate on the day (subject to availability).
The Dhol Collective bring their energetic Dhol drumming sounds - with dancers on hand to show you some moves. They fuse traditional Panjabi folk rhythms with popular modern music to get everyone dancing.
Miss High Leg Kick’s Bird Rave will also get you dancing with their interactive performance to a soundtrack of classic rave music.
Bird Rave is a project exploring extraordinary birds and the choreography of nature.
Come and watch the performance, do some bird spotting and learn some old-school rave moves. Birds to spot include the Hummingbird, Hooded Crow, Yellow-crested Cockatoo and Blue-backed Manakin.
There’ll be live music to enjoy across the day from top local talent - including headliners Soulful Sistas. Not forgetting storytelling from acclaimed children’s poet and author Simon Mole.
Food stalls include authentic Punjabi cuisine from Ka Na; Presto Italian Street Food serving delicious handmade pizzas; and BBQ food from Smoking Skewers.
For those with a sweet tooth ice creams will be on hand from Franca’s Ice Cream; home-made cookies from Get Whisked Away; and specialty coffees, teas and hot chocolates from Jessie’s Coffee Truck.
There’s also the Norrden Farm festival bar serving a range of drinks including soft drinks and Rebellion Brewery IPA and lager.
There’s still time to create your own kite at one of the workshops this summer. Taking place at Norden Farm on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August, and at the Nicholsons Shopping Centre on Saturday 26 August. See the Norden Farm website for full details and tickets.
The Kite Festival is kindly supported by funding from The Prince Philip Trust Fund, The Cyril Taylor Charitable Foundation and Spoore Merry and Rixman Foundation - and our supporters Optalis and The Good Gym.
Enjoy a day full of entertainment, plus food, drink and of course kite flying!
