2019. Jewish Essex. One funeral. Two twins. And an 80-year-old ex-gangster with a plan that’s absolutely meshugge. Revenge: After The Levoyah is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 6 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.

Malcolm Spivak’s had enough. He corners twins Dan and Lauren, fresh from their grandfather’s funeral, with a proposition: help him kidnap former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. Yes, really. What follows is a chaotic Jewish heist that blends madcap comedy and biting political satire.

Revenge: After The Levoyah tears through antisemitism in the diaspora, the dangers of collective hysteria - and how far a nonagenarian can throw a jar of chraine from a moving vehicle. Revenge is a dish best served pickled.

Written by Nick Cassenbaum and directed by Emma Jude Harris, it was first performed at Summerhall during the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. It won a Fringe First Award and a Summerhall Lustrum Award, before transferring for multiple sell-out runs at The Yard Theatre, London.

Exploring what it means to be Jewish in London, Cassenbaum's script takes us on a funny, mischievous romp through London. Littered with five star reviews, the play sees two performers take on up to 50 different characters - from Jewish twins Dan and Lauren to an octogenarian hit squad, a Dr Marten's wearing Rabbi, to Moishe a 94 year old Holocaust Survivor, and Nana who doesn't want to leave the house.

Writer Nick Cassenbaum says: “I am over the moon about my show going across the South East. This is a show that is unashamedly Jewish and undeniably British. I am so looking forward to getting to as many venues as I can to experience the show all over! I want people to delve in and have the best time!”
