One of the finest UK based sitar players comes to Maidenhead

Celebrated UK-based sitar player Roopa Panesar Trio is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Wednesday 19 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are £22.

After playing to packed houses at London’s leading concert halls, Barbican and Southbank Centre - Roopa Panesar comes to Maidenhead. Born in London and raised in Leicester, Roopa began learning sitar from an early age. At the age of seven, her lifelong journey with renowned educationalist and leading UK musician Ustad Dharambir Singh ji MBE started and she was quickly recognised as a talent for the future. She remains with her musical guru to this day.

Roopa’s outstanding musical ability has resulted in a stream of high-profile national and international concerts, tours and televised performances including the BBC1’s televised VJ75 memorial in the presence of HRH The Prince of Wales and working with the Belgian Symphony Orchestra. She has toured extensively in the UK, India, Europe and USA.

For this concert, Roopa will be accompanied by Sukhdeep Dhanjal on tabla, and RN Prakash on Carnatic percussion.

Sukhdeep Dhanjal is a leading tabla player and teacher, with in-depth knowledge and experience with both the classical and fusion genres. He has performed at leading venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre and 10 Downing Street, by invitation of the then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

RN Prakash is a popular mridangam and ghatam artist performing globally, with many Carnatic concerts relying on his flawless ghatam accompaniment. Although his expertise is in Indian classical music, he is versatile, adventurous and open minded.
