Jianing Kong

The Beethoven symphony cycle (21-25) continues with the titanic and stormy Fifth symphony. The St John’s Chamber Orchestra are at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday 27 April at 7.30pm. Tickets are £20 | Under 18s free.

Chinese pianist Jianing Kong joins the St John’s Orchestra on piano. Jianing Kong was a prizewinner at the Sydney International Piano Competition. He has previously played Mozart and Brahms concertos at Norden Farm. He has performed to great acclaim throughout the UK, US, Continental Europe and Asia. Jianing has appeared in many major concert venues as well as with renowned orchestras.

Jianing studied at the Purcell School with the legendary British pianist Ronald Smith and at the Royal College of Music. Apart from a busy performing schedule, Jianing has joined the piano faculty at the Purcell School since 2011, and is now a professor of piano at Royal College of Music.

He returns with his effortless refined and elegant playing to the most radiant and elegant playing of Beethoven’s piano concertos.

Joining Jianing is Shree Rao on violin.

The concert is conducted by Maidenhead resident Nigel Wilkinson. Nigel is an examiner for the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He was also a senior producer on BBC Radio 3.
