1950s diner serves up sensory show for babies
Join Dottie – an eager to please 1950s style diner server on their first day on the job. Whipped Up! is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 20 February at 10.30am, 12pm and 2pm. Tickets are £15 for one adult and one child | Additional adult £12 | Additional sibling £8. Age guidance 2 months to 2 years.
At this diner, the baby is the customer and grown ups are along for the ride. As Dottie waits on their demanding clientele (imagine babies doing what babies do best – creating adorable chaos!) the server grows increasingly frazzled – and more and more entertaining!
The performance is stimulating for tiny audience members with sensory play served up throughout the show. And for grown ups, it’s hilarious watching their little ones take on roles in an unfolding comedy.
Whipped Up! was created to provide a welcoming space and moment of joy for babies and their dedicated grown ups.
It was written and conceived by Jill Rogati. She received her Master of Fine Arts in Lecoq-based, Actor-created Physical Theatre from the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) in conjunction with Naropa University. She invests her time teaching actors how to move their bodies and makes puppets for Boston-based Imaginary Beasts theatre company.
Directed by Eva Sampson, associate director on Four Quartets at Harold Pinter Theatre with Ralph Fiennes. Eva is the Co-Artistic Director of How It Ended theatre company and an Associate Artist of National Youth Theatre.
Produced by Watford Palace Theatre.
Tickets are £15 for 1 adult and 1 child | £12 for additional adults | Additional sibling £8
