Discover a rare fusion of voices and saxophone as the Wooburn Singers perform the world premiere of a hauntingly beautiful new arrangement in Maidenhead.
Wooburn Singers invite you to an extraordinary evening of sacred music at All Saints Church Boyne Hill, Maidenhead on Saturday 28th March. As one of South Bucks' leading chamber choirs, the group continues its tradition of musical excellence with a rare and innovative programme pairing choral singing with the soulful, soaring tones of the soprano saxophone.
The evening's centrepiece is a significant musical milestone: the world premiere of a new arrangement of Richard Blackford's Pietà. Originally scored for strings, this evocative 2019 work has been specially adapted by the composer for organ, saxophone, and choir for this performance. The choir will be joined by the Taplow Boys' Choir, renowned saxophonist Huw Wiggin to bring this moving piece to life.
The programme further explores this unique instrumental fusion with James Whitbourn's 21st-century Son of God Mass, alongside acclaimed organist Ben Bloor. The concert concludes on a high note with the joyous energy of John Rutter's Winchester Te Deum.
