373 reviewsSituated on a picturesque private island on the River Thames in the historic village of Bray, Monkey Island Estate opened in 2019 after major renovation by YTL Hotels and the award-winning Champalimaud Design.
41 beautifully appointed guest rooms and suites reflect a contemporary, English country house feel. Each room is equipped with luxurious amenities, including complimentary Wi-Fi. Moored on the banks of the fish-tail shaped Monkey Island, a unique floating spa offers a range of exclusive spa treatments.
Dining at Monkey Island Estate will always delight. The cuisine is a delectable modern take on British classics, with produce freshly sourced from the gardens and surrounding countryside. The Monkey Island Brasserie is the perfect setting for a long lunch or an exquisite dinner. The Monkey Bar serves delicious light bites from the all-day bar menu, quintessentially English Afternoon Tea and a selection of bespoke cocktails, fine Champagnes and wines from the cellar.
Marvel at the monkey inspired, 17th-century frescos which adorn the ceilings of the Grade I listed Monkey Room, whilst a secret staircase leads to an intimate Whisky Snug which provides a perfect finale to a grand evening.
Set across seven acres, Monkey Island Estate provides a memorable location whatever the purpose of your visit. Accessed only by footbridge, boat or helicopter and surrounded by elegant gardens, Monkey Island Estate is reminiscent of a secluded paradise, yet is only 10 minutes from Windsor, less than an hour’s drive from Central London and only 25 minutes by car from Heathrow Airport.
From London, Heathrow or the West Country, proceed along the M4 to Junction 8/9. At the first roundabout take the third exit onto the A308(M). At the next roundabout take the third exit onto the Windsor Road (A308). Turn left into Upper Bray Road (B3028). In the centre of Bray village turn right into Old Mill Lane. Continue along Old Mill Lane as far as possible, then turn left at the pink house into the Monkey Island Car Park. The only access to the Island is by the footbridge or by boat.
By rail from London: Maidenhead Station from London Paddington (approximately 20 minutes). Then a taxi to Monkey Island (3.5 miles). By bus from Heathrow: First Group Bus No. 75 from Heathrow Airport to Maidenhead (once every hour). Then a taxi to Monkey Island.
