International Autumn colour on your doorstep at the Savill and Valley Gardens, Windsor Great Park

14th October 2014

Categories: News

The Savill and Valley Gardens will be ablaze with international colour this autumn.

As Keeper of The Gardens, Mark Flanagan comments:

“In the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee the leaves on the tall tulip trees turn a wonderful butter yellow before falling. Flaming maples reflecting in the waters of Lake Chuzenji make for an unforgettable sight in the hills and valleys of Nikko National Park in Japan. Whilst high in the Upper Engadine valley in the Swiss Alps the larch trees shed their burnished leaves against an evergreen backdrop of pines and spruces as the first snows begin to fall. In the temperate parts of the world autumn can be a truly spectacular time. However, you don’t need to travel any further than The Savill and Valley Gardens in Windsor Great Park to see these and a whole array of other trees and shrubs whose leaves provide a kaleidoscope of colours during October and November”.

Until the end of October, visitors to The Savill Garden can also enjoy a display of imaginative and innovative sculpture, forming an exciting exhibition around the Garden. The sculptures are inspired by the natural world. All pieces are available to purchase and standard Savill Garden entry fees apply.

There is also an autumn half-term nature trail from 25 October to 2 November starting at The Savill Garden going in to the wider Great Park. The cost is £2.50 per child and is available from The Savill Garden reception from 10am to 4pm.

Following a refreshing stroll, visit The Savill Restaurant or the Gallery Coffee Shop in The Savill Building, where you can enjoy freshly made coffee and homemade cakes. The Virginia Water Pavilion also has excellent catering facilities.
