Gary Bunt: a tribute to Stanley Spencer

About

This winter, discover the work of two distinctive British artists at the Stanley Spencer Gallery in the beautiful Thames-side village of Cookham.

Our winter exhibition brings together the work of Gary Bunt, whose paintings celebrate everyday life, landscape, family and community, with the extraordinary vision of Stanley Spencer, an artist whose deep connection with Cookham shaped some of his most memorable work.

Set within the village that Spencer famously described as ‘a village in Heaven’, the Gallery offers a wonderful opportunity to combine an inspiring cultural visit with a stroll through historic Cookham, perhaps followed by lunch or a festive browse in the village.

Whether you are already familiar with Spencer’s work or discovering him for the first time, the exhibition offers a chance to see his work in the context of the place that inspired him, alongside the contemporary perspective of Gary Bunt.

A perfect winter day out in Cookham – art, village, river and Christmas atmosphere all in one visit.
