One of India’s top comedians brings his stand up to Maidenhead

Heading to Maidenhead on official business. Anuvab Pal – The Department of Britishness is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 23 May at 8pm. Tickets are £15.50. Suitable for ages 15+ years.

Post-Brexit, the British government want to sell the idea of Britishness to India. It has been done before, with dubious results.

Now, they’ve set up a Department of Britishness and hired Anuvab. He will explain in detail why Indians should embrace Britishness, having done it himself. There is trouble ahead.

Anuvab is the only Indian stand-up comedian after Russell Peters to sell out The Gotham Comedy Club in New York in record time. He’s also the only Indian comedian invited to perform at Harvard University. Times of India lists him among India’s top 5 English speaking comedians. He has played over 750 shows and sold-out across India, the Middle East, Singapore, Hong Kong, San Francisco and New York.

In 2016, Anuvab was chosen among the top 14 comedians in India to have his comedy special available on Amazon Prime Video among the premiere shows of Amazon’s India debut. He joined the hilarious pan-global satirical podcast The Bugle alongside Andy Zaltman and they co-created the upcoming comedy (BBC Radio 4) series Empire-ical Evidence and Future Empire-Fect.

Anuvab’s sitcom pilot Empire featured as part of the Festival of Funny (BBC Radio 2). He is also a prolific writer, and was the screenwriter of two Bollywood films, two sitcoms and his play Chaos Theory was a hit stage play in New York and Mumbai.
