Pop down to the George Inn, Eton for a Blue Plaque Unveiling! This is a truly special event honouring the legacy of George Y. Pocock, a man whose name is synonymous with excellence in the world of crew racing.
For over 50 years, George Pocock handcrafted the finest racing shells, his meticulous craftsmanship earning him international acclaim. His boats, known for their unmatched quality and affordability, were used by nearly every racing college in the United States and beyond, winning countless national and Olympic championships.
This Friday a commemorative plaque in his honour, celebrating his contribution to the sport and his lasting impact on rowing, will be unveiled. The ceremony will be graced by none other than Sir Matthew Pinsent, rowing legend and four-time Olympic gold medalist.
