Martin Turner and his band return to the stage. Martin Turner ex Wishbone Ash is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday 20 April at 8pm. Tickets are £22.

Martin Turner and his band celebrate the 50th anniversary of Wishbone Ash’s seminal double live album Live Dates.

Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton. They were intent on creating a musical sound that was rich in texture and melody. Martin Turner envisaged the band’s innovative harmony-guitar hallmark. Guitarists Ted Turner and Andy Powell were recruited via a now legendary Melody Maker advert.

Wishbone Ash forged a unique musical identity that would produce some of rock music’s best loved works. Their name is synonymous with high quality guitar-driven melodic rock music. Martin Turner continues to delight audiences with performances of the band’s best loved works. His current line up features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic and drummer Sonny Flint.

Danny Willson began playing guitar at the age of seven. His early influences were pop acts of the sixties and early seventies, before moving onto classic rock bands of the seventies, including Wishbone Ash. He later joined pop-rock band Showaddywaddy. In 2008 Danny was introduced to Martin Turner’s touring band and he joined at short notice. He amazed both fans and the band with the ease at which he stepped into this most coveted position.

Misha Nikolic joined Martin Turner’s band in May 2015. Originally from Serbia, Misha moved to London in the early 90s, where he won a scholarship at the prestigious Guitar Institute. He went on to become student of the year winning a Fender Stratocaster from Fender UK. Misha has a wealth of experience in performance, composition, music technology and world music. He runs a busy recording studio and owns his own publishing and recording company.

Sonny Flint joined in August 2022. He dad is Hughie Flint (John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, the Blues Band). When Sonny was 13 his dad gave him an old Adjax drum kit and he has been drumming ever since. He later joined the psychedelic band The Limbic System before being headhunted by anarcho-punksters Omega Tribe in 1984 to go on tour at the age of 17. Since then Sonny has played and recorded with the Silverjets, Me Against Them and many more. He is also a professional sound engineer, recording with the likes of Gary Numan and Emiliana Torrini.

Together they capture the original Wishbone Ash line-up at its very best during the peak of its commercial success.
