The Eton College Photographic Society held an annual Lantern Exhibition from 1890 for more than 75 years. Through these exhibitions, audiences could wonder at the art of photography and the advances in camera technology.
Inspired by this premise, the Picturing Eton exhibition, opening in the Verey Gallery in September 2026, will explore the history of photography through the daily life of Eton College revealed in the Photographic Archive collection; from the first photograph taken of Eton (a calotype by Henry Fox Talbot) to the digital photography we live with today.
