Leading saxophonist brings jazz evening to Maidenhead

Renowned jazz saxophonist and clarinettist has been performing for over 40 years. The Frank Griffith Quartet (tenor sax) is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 11 October at 8pm. Tickets are £16.

Frank Griffith performs primarily in New York and London. He was born in Eugene, Oregon in 1959 and lived in New York City between 1980 – 1995. He worked with Ron Carter, Jon Hendricks and Jack McDuff. He has played lead alto with the Glenn Miller Orchestra for a nationwide tour.

His band The Frank Griffith Nonet perform regularly in London including at the annual Ealing Jazz Festival since 2000.

Frank has appeared on a recording of John Dankworth’s Big Band featuring Cleo Laine. He also played with them both, along with the London Symphony Orchestra, at the Barbican and Royal Festival Hall.

Also greatly acclaimed as an arranger, Frank has composed for a number of well-known singers and musicians for over 30 years. He has arranged for Mark Nightingale, Tony Coe, Norma Winstone and Joe Temperley. More recently Frank has proved himself as a successful educator, teaching in both the USA and UK.

Counting John Dankworth and Burt Bacharach as some of his main influences, Frank plays many forms of jazz including modern, mainstream and traditional alongside funk, soul and some crossover classical.
