Following the success of their charming productions of A Christmas Carol last autumn and The Nutcracker in 2024, Ballet Theatre UK is delighted to return to Windsor this autumn half-term with The Snow Queen: a magical re-telling of Hans Christian Andersen’s much-loved fairytale.
Whether audiences are already familiar with Ballet Theatre UK’s productions or are discovering the thrill of classical ballet for the very first time, The Snow Queen promises to captivate audiences of all ages.
The story follows young Gerda on a thrilling adventure across the frozen north as she sets out to rescue her friend Kay, who has fallen under the Snow Queen’s evil spell. Along the way, Gerda encounters a colourful band of gypsies, enchanted reindeer and a mysterious, reclusive woman from Lapland, who reveals that Gerda must continue her journey northwards to find Kay and the Snow Queen’s magnificent Palace of Ice.
But as the curse of eternal winter takes hold, only Gerda’s unwavering love for her friend can break the spell and save Kay.
Inspired by the same classic fairytale which formed the basis for the children’s hit film Frozen, Ballet Theatre UK’s The Snow Queen brings this timeless story to life through the beauty and drama of classical ballet.
Performed to a glorious and magical score, the production combines Ballet Theatre UK’s renowned company of international dancers with beautifully hand-crafted costumes and glittering stage sets to create a spectacular theatrical experience.
Perfect for ballet lovers and newcomers alike, The Snow Queen offers a wonderful opportunity for families, young audiences and anyone looking to experience the magic of classical ballet.
Ballet Theatre UK’s The Snow Queen provides a magical adventure, spectacularly brought to life on stage this autumn half-term.
