Step behind the scenes at Windsor Castle this summer and explore the remarkable Great Kitchen on a special guided tour, offering a unique glimpse into life at a working royal residence.
Dating back to the reign of Edward III, the Great Kitchen is believed to be the oldest operational kitchen in Britain and has supported royal hospitality for more than six centuries.
Accompanied by a knowledgeable guide, you'll uncover fascinating stories from the castle's culinary past. Admire the original medieval fireplaces, learn about the extravagant feasts served to generations of monarchs, and hear tales of the lavish multi-course banquets enjoyed during the reigns of George IV and Queen Victoria, including the customs and traditions that shaped royal dining.
The tour also reveals how the kitchen continues to play a role today, helping to cater for official occasions and State Visits hosted by His Majesty The King. As this area is not normally accessible to visitors, it offers a rare opportunity to experience an important part of the castle's working heritage.
Your tour ticket also includes admission to Windsor Castle, allowing you to explore the State Apartments, St George's Chapel and other highlights during your visit.
