English Tourism Week
You are here: Home > Ideas & Inspiration > English Tourism Week
English Tourism Week (13-22 March 2026) is a fantastic annual celebration led by VisitEngland, shining a light on the people, places and experiences that make our country such a joy to explore. It’s a chance to recognise the incredible variety and value of England’s tourism offer — from iconic attractions to hidden local gems — and to champion the businesses and communities who make it all possible.
Tourism is one of England’s most important industries, supporting millions of jobs and thousands of small businesses nationwide. Here in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead, it’s at the heart of our local economy too. From family‑run cafés and charming independent shops to much‑loved attractions like Windsor Castle, Ascot Racecourse and the Stanley Spencer Gallery, our borough thrives thanks to the passion and creativity of the people who welcome visitors year‑round.
Throughout the week, organisations across England come together to highlight the sector’s vital contribution and to underline why tourism matters — not just nationally, but right here in our own communities. It’s also an opportunity for local businesses to connect with MPs, councillors and media, helping to spotlight the important role tourism plays in supporting jobs and boosting economic growth in towns and villages across the borough.
We're planning a special Residents’ Weekend, from Friday 20 to Sunday 22 March 2026, for those living in the Royal Borough. More information on local offers and deals will follow shortly.
Whether you’re popping into one of Maidenhead’s artisan bakeries, joining a guided tour in Windsor, exploring the riverside at Bray or discovering local producers at one of our vibrant markets, English Tourism Week is the perfect moment to celebrate what makes our borough — and England as a whole — such a special place to visit.
The right career choice can be hard to make but here in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead there’s one stand out industry that offers you a world of opportunities and what better time to think about starting your career in Tourism than during English Tourism Week?
Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality is big business in the Windsor and Maidenhead area and we have some of the UK’s most iconic visitor attractions, entertainment companies, sports venues, Michelin-starred restaurants and hotel brands right on our doorstep. Working in the fabulous local tourism industry is a great career choice for young people.
