About

Relax in the informal spendour of Cliveden's stunning gardens and enjoy exploring the peaceful woodlands and Thames riverbank. Discover a garden that delights through the seasons with colourful planting schemes, miles of walks and breathtaking views as well as a giant maze that will entertain all ages. Complete your day out with delicious home-cooked lunches and teas and a visit to the gift shop.

Little known facts:

1. The Cliveden Maze has almost 500 metres of paths and 1,100 yew trees were planted to make the hedges.
2. Cliveden's famous parterre is planted up with up to 25,000 bedding plants and bulbs every spring and summer.

Enjoy a year-round programme of fantastic events at National Trust Cliveden for adults, children and families.  Explore the estate on guided and self-guided walks and school-holiday trails.  Watch open-air theatre.  Get a bird's eye view during a tree climbing adventure.  Visit National Trust Cliveden's website for the full events programme.

Garden open: 1 January until 31 December 10am - 5.30pm or dusk if earlier. Closed 24 & 25 December.

The Gilded Gardens of Cliveden

Throughout March and April, 10am – 5.30pm

Golden daffodils carpet the grounds of Cliveden’s vast gardens and woodlands the National Trust look after. New for this year, 57 different varieties have been introduced to estate, meaning the spectacle will be bigger and brighter than ever before. Pick up a free self-guided walking leaflet from the information centre to enjoy the daffodils from hard standing paths and without damaging the delicate plants.  Find out more about the Gilded Gardens of Cliveden.

Easter Fun at Cliveden

We’ve partnered with Cadbury again to host our annual Easter Egg Hunt around the Cliveden National Trust estate. The trail starts on Saturday 6 April and is on every day until Monday 22 April (10.30am - 3.30pm), including the Easter weekend (expect Easter weekend to be the busiest days!)

The theme for the trail is natural life cycles and the various stages animals go through in their lives. It's designed to be an educational trail where children can learn about nature whilst still having fun. There'll be clues along the trail for children to solve and receive a Cadbury chocolate prize at the end. Trails cost £3 per child (includes the Cadbury prize) plus usual admission to the estate. The trail is on hard-standing paths, meaning it is fully accessible for push-chairs and wheelchairs. If you have individual access needs you need to discuss, please call the estate on 01628 605069.

Spring gardens

Our formal gardens and naturalised woodlands come to life with the arrival of spring. Gardens are filled with scent and colour whilst the woodlands brim with wildflowers. Migrant birds can be heard singing and bees and butterflies take flight. Enjoy all these signs of spring at Cliveden on your next visit.

National Trust Cliveden 2019

In 1919 Nancy Astor became the first woman to take her seat in Parliament, paving the way for future generations of female politicians from all backgrounds.  Throughout 2019, an exciting programme of events and exhibitions will take place at Cliveden based upon several key themes: Nancy's legacy as a politician and champion of women's rights, as a wife and mother and as an entertainer of celebrities and controversial characters.

Group visits to Cliveden

Cliveden welcomes group visits throughout the year, Monday to Friday.  We recommend you allow three to four hours to see the formal gardens and have enough time to stop for lunch or tea.  Your group will be met on arrival and our friendly staff will offer welcome leaflets to all the party to help them get the most out of their visit.  Your greeter will also be able to direct you to key features and facilities and will assist the group organiser with ticket purchases as necessary.  Group menus and garden and house tours available for pre-booked groups.
